Highlighting a cascading regional emergency, the Aluminium Extrusion Manufacturers Association (ALEMAI) reports that the midstream and downstream extrusion sectors are experiencing a brutal contraction. Due to the complete standstill of raw material container unloading at key ports and sudden shortages of process gases (LPG/PNG), plant capacity utilization has plunged. National production averages have been cut roughly in half, dropping from 100,000 tonnes down to 50,000–60,000 tonnes monthly, driving conversion costs up by 25%.
